![]() I was in a turn lane when my transmission failed with no warning. What can I do to keep from having to pay for a defective internal transmission part that is expensive to have put in. Even though the transmission is still under warranty, the dealer that put the transmission in has purged their system and my information was kicked out and I cannot find the original paperwork. Now the shift sensors are going out and even the local dealer said this should not be happening at only 35,000 miles. All three times they rebuilt the whole transmission. When I would take my foot off the gas and then try again it would grab and take off. When I would go through a yield requiring me to speed up such as getting on the interstate it would rev up as if it were in neutral, almost causing me to get hit on several occasions. After that it was back in the shop 3 more times over the next year for problems. I had it taken to the dealer and watched them take a new transmission out of a crate and put it in. The day I bought it the transmission failed. I have a 1997 Chevrolet Venture and I have had a lot of transmission problems since I bought it. I will drive this van for as long as I am able, but have lost all confidence in gm products and will not purchase another gm product unless adequate assurances are provided against such mechanical failures in the future.Īll problems of the 1999 Chevrolet Venture 00 to have my transmission rebuilt and now may have some assurance of mechanical functunality. While my van did have over 92,000 miles on it when the transmission needed to be replaced, I nevertheless feel that if such transmission failures are indicative of chevy transmissions for my model year, that a recall should have been ordered for the same. I was further advised by the repair facility that such transmission problems are indicative of Chevrolet Venture vans and that they were surprised I was able to drive my vehicle for as many miles as I did before noticing a problem. I was advised that my transmission was failing because of insufficient fluid pressure, and if left unaddressed, the transmission would soon fail, leaving me stranded at the location of transmission failure. In fall of 2003, harshness of shifting became more pronounced and van was inspected by a transmission repair faciilty. I have not contacted the dealership at this point as I do not want to pay to have this 12 year old van repaired at my cost nor do I ever want to drive this van again.Began noticing harsh shifts in automatic transmission of 1999 Chevrolet Venture van in summer of 2003 when van had approximately 85,000 miles. ![]() Luckily there were no cars or people in my way and I was able to get control of the van without hurting myself or others, the van was brought back to my driveway where it remains. This all happened on the side street of my subdivision before I could get onto the main road. I turned off the ignition and finally braked the van to a stop. At the beginning of the sudden acceleration, I tried to apply the brakes but could not stop the van or stop the acceleration. At that same moment, the engine raced to full throttle and raced forward with the van continually going faster and faster racing instantly to 50 miles an hour and still accelerating. And immediately I felt the pedal unstick. I pushed the gas pedal harder to get to car to move forward. As I started to move forward, the gas pedal felt harder than normal but I attributed that to being left outside all winter. I backed the van out of my driveway at home and placed the car into drive.
